The date November 1st, 2025. I started my walk right before 3 pm. It is chilly outside, but I only need a light jacket. I am walking around my neighborhood in my hometown in North Carolina. The street is asphalt, three cars are parked on it in front of my neighbor's house. The are five other cars that I can see but they are parked in driveways, most people have a garage so there are many cars I am not seeing. There is a sidewalk, but only on one side of the street. The neighborhood is very quiet. I saw two people walking their dog earlier, it was a brown lab. He was very energetic. I have not seen anyone since. These buildings are all residential, single-family homes. They all have front yards, most with green grass. There is one house where the grass looks completely dead, it still feels too warm for that to happen already. Maybe they have a different type of grass, their grass is a perfect brown square perfectly straight at what I assume is their property line. Walking down the street I see that most people have the same mailbox. It is black and plain. Looking at the roofs of all the houses, I see there is one with some of the shingles falling off. They should probably get that fixed before the winter. Each of the house numbers have four digits. They all start with 88. I wonder how they go about assigning those numbers, since we are mostly surrounded by farmland. In Richmond the building numbers mostly make sense, each block with their own set. Until moving here I never realized that it is probably not random. The only people that through drive here live here, or are lost and turning around. It is only one street that ends in a cul-de-sac. There is a big hill in the middle and a huge tree that sits at the top. With the changing leaves it is very pretty. I don't know what kind of tree it is but it's the only one of its kind in the neighborhood. I wonder if someone planted it there, it would have had to have been a long time ago because it has been there as long as I can remember.
