Medium: Ink on Stonehenge paper
Dimensions: 30 x 22 inches
Semester: Spring 2025
Description: I was tasked to create an ink drawing that does not utilize any representational imagery. Instead, I had to develop a composition through the use of repetitive mark-making. This project was very daunting at first, aptly named the "30,000 Marks Drawing", the concept of making so many marks on the page seemed impossible. Throughout the process I often found myself subconsciously gravitating to representational imagery, and I had to course correct. I took drawing studio the previous semester, so a black and white abstract piece was a big shift from what I had grown used to. I really enjoyed the process since I had more creative freedom and had the opportunity to experiment with some interesting shapes and textures.
