Dimensions: 30 x 44 inches
Semester: Fall 2024
Description: We were tasked with creating two self portraits that incorporated different facial expressions, dramatic light and shadows, and objects that interacted with the face. The prompt was to pick objects that were "opposite but equal". I decided to use scissors and tape, scissors break things apart while tape brings them back together. This piece is the second panel of the diptych. This project was quite challenging for me because I am not well versed in drawing, and before drawing studio I had never created a self portrait. It was a large piece which added difficulty, but I was glad to have this as a learning experience.  I had considerable growth during this unit, and this is one of my favorite pieces I have created during Art Foundations.
The image on the left shows the two pieces together as a diptych.
The image on the right is the first self portrait I have ever done, and it was made in my drawing studio. I have it here to show my growth. This piece is 18 by 24 inches.
